    The design features smooth lines that carve through the spaces; a movement that derives directly from the tracks left by the activities in the mountains Verbier is so famous for: the carved slopes during wintertime or the smooth mountain bike tracks in summer.

    Contrasting elements – a 6m wide fireplace inside vs. the snow covered landscape outside; prolific application of natural materials such as wood, leather, felt, wool and fur wood vs. black and silver glossy materials and glacier inspired glass bars; carved blocks of natural stone vs. glamorous inlays of brass and backlit marble, juxtapose the simplicity, beauty and energy of Verbier and the contemporary cool of New York. It is interesting to see how the mountains are ushered into the hotel by reinterpreting local elements in a contemporary way: a giant staircase (a contemporary reference to the Swiss railway system) in one of the glass atriums connecting the four chalet buildings has the mountain flowing into the built form with comfortable benches, where guests can relax, hang out, meet and flirt. While this offers a spectacular view down the valley by day, by night it pulsates with an intimate mood illuminated by deep red light. The resort boasts of individualistic signature spaces and 123 stylish guest rooms and suites that are akin to a boutique hotel within the hotel. Specialty treatment is ingrained into the design and designation of the suites and public areas.     Hawaii is to receive a new Hyatt-branded hotel after Hyatt Hotels and Resorts announced that they will be opening the new Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort & Spa in Spring, 2012.

    The new hotel will be located on Mokapu and Ulua Beach on the island of Maui, which is a hotspot for idyllic beach weddings, and Michael Stephens has been named as the General Manager.

    Set upon 15 acres of land, the new Hyatt resort will take over the hotel that was once the Wailea Renaissance resort. This is the first Andaz-branded property to be built in Hawaii and the brand embraces local culture into its dcor, food and events.

    The Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort & Spa will have 325 rooms and suites, a lavish 15,000-quare-foot spa, and 12,000-square-feet of event and meeting space, making it the perfect venue for destination weddings of any size.

    Mokapu and Ulua Beach has been a popular setting for romantic beach weddings for many years and the new resort is expected to attract many couples planning on getting married abroad in Hawaii in the near future.

    All beaches in Hawaii are open to the public and Mokapu and Ulua Beach is likely to see an increase in visitors once the new hotel is open for destination weddings.

    City Seasons Group announces General Manager of new hotel in Muscat

    Muscat March 2011 City Seasons Group has announced Manu Madan as General Manager City Seasons Hotel Muscat to lead the opening of the new property.

    Manu Madan brings 23 years of experience in the hospitality industry, all based primarily in the Middle East. Madan previously worked for City Seasons Group opening a City Seasons Hotel Dubai in 2009, returning in January 2011 as General Manager City Seasons Hotel Muscat.

    “I am excited about the synergies of the new City Seasons Group and of course the opening of our first hotel in Oman” Madan said.

    “The hotel opened in March with a very modern, contemporary feel to it and is the first of its kind in Muscat, offering an array of restaurant choices, health club facilities and superb meeting facilities, as well as significant amenities in the guest rooms,” he says.

    After moving to the Middle East in 1988, Indian born Madan, began his career in Dubai as Sales Executive for The Metropolitan Hotel, Habtoor Group. Over the next 15 years, Madan stayed with the same hotel, being promoted to Director of Sales after the first 10 years, then to Executive Assistant Manager Sales and Marketing in 2002 and Group Director of Business Development in 2003. In 2004, Madan was given the opportunity to head up The Metropolitan Hotel, Dubai as General Manager, where he stayed for the next two years.

    Other executive appointments followed as General Manager at the Metropolitan Palace Hotel, Dubai; General Manager at the City Seasons Hotel Dubai and General Manager at the Habtoor Grand Resort & Spa, Dubai.
